2012 ASSESSMENT CONSULTATIVE MEETING

The Curriculum & Inspection Division of the Department of Education, Technical Vocational Education & Training Wing conducted the Assessment Consultative Meeting held at Port Moresby Business College on Thursday, 31st May 2012.

Resolutions passed in the Assessment Consultative Meeting:

Resolution 1 - The Diploma / TTC Programs Semester Based commencing 2013. It was agreed that the National Examinations for Diploma in Business Studies and Tourism & Hospitality Management be standardized.

Resolution 2 - The National Examinations is coordinated by TVET Head Office - Curriculum & Inspections Division - Measurements and Evaluation Branch. It was agreed that the National Examinations marked at a Central Location and coordinated by TVET Head office.

Resolution 3 - All National Examinations is marked at a Central Location and be coordinated by TVET Head Office - Curriculum & Inspection Division. It was agreed by all members that course programs is standardized in all Colleges for Diploma and Technical Training Cerificate courses.

Resolution 4 - The course programs is standardized in all Colleges for Diploma & TTC courses and coordinated by TVET - Curriculum & Inspections. Semester 1 - Stages 1 & 3, Semester 2 Stages 2 & 4. It was agreed that Course materials, Teaching materials for DSiploma and TTC courses is developed in 2012.

Resolution 5 - Development of Course / Teaching Resource Materials for Diploma and TTC courses. All members agreed that a workshop be conducted for writing of Resource Materials for Diploma and TTC courses.

Resolution 6 - A workshop to be coordinated and facilitated by TVET Head Office for Resource Materials Writing in Term 3 in 2012. It was agreed that an item Banking software be acquired for TVET to use for Banking Exam papers.

Resolution 7 - TVET to acquire an Item Banking updated software (LXR). It was agreed by members that the current Diploma Syllabus be reviewed in 2012.

Resolution 8 - All TVET syllabus to be reviewed in line with current Education Reform in 2012. It was agreed that Port Moresby Business College proposed Assessment Grading Policy be used by all Colleges conducting Diploma programs.

Resolution 9 - Option D - grading system proposed by Port Moresby Business College is accepted and implemented in 2013. It was agreed that Port Moresby Business College use the current assessment policy and use the proposed Option D next year in line with other colleges.

Resolution 10 - Port Moresby Business College applies the old option A and implement Option D assessment in 2013 with other colleges. 

The ten (10) resolutions were passed at this meeting by all Principals who were present. A circular to be sent to colleges regarding the assessment grading policy for Diploma in Business Studies and TTC.
