HOW TO ENTER THE COLLEGE

Posted on 18:46 by Unknown

GENERAL ENQUIRIES

·     A student upon making a general enquiry about the nature and type of courses to be held in the college will receive upon payment of a non-refundable fee of K20, the following:
  •       AN INFORMATION SHEET ABOUT THE COLLEGE
  •       AN APPLICATION FORM THAT COVERS ALL COURSES

3   The application form must be completed fully and returned to the college. Failure to pay the fee will mean your name will not be registered and entered on the college computer.

HOW TO ENTER THE COLLEGE

·      When a student sends back their application form with their details and the course of their choice the administration will register this interest in the administration computer and put the application form in a folder for that particular course. This will give us a guide to how many students are interested in a particular trade.

·     All application forms will be screened by the College Selection Committee (CSC), and those who will be successfully selected will be issued an Acceptance Letter for enrolment.

These rules are given below:
1
For First Semester intake – applications open at the end of June and closes at the end of October each year. Late applications after the end of October will not be entertained.
2
For Second Semester intake – applications open at the end of February and closes at the end of May each year. Late applications after the end of May will not be entertained.

All students must come to the college with the correct details that relate to the applicant. Those people without the correct entry requirements will be refused entry.
4
If you are travelling from a distant province it is best if you contact the college to avoid disappointment at enrolment. Obviously those students who live near the college or in the capital city have best chance of entry so always telephone in and ask if spaces are available, the college will not be held responsible for your travel back to your own province. The training spaces fill quickly so it is best to make early enquiries.

6
The rule on the days of enrolment is FIRST COME – FIRST SERVED. So if you are first in the queue on enrolment then you will be given a number when you enter the college gate and this number will determine your place in the queue.
7
You must bring with you the following on enrolment as stated on your Acceptance Letter when you are selected. The original Grade 10 or Grade 12 certificate – a copy is not sufficient.    If the original has been tampered with or has correction fluid on it you will be refused entry. You must bring your Acceptance Letter and this will match up with your computer record. You must bring all the fees and a medical certificate from a registered medical practitioner. We will not accept Grade 10/12 results earlier than 2002.
8
As soon as the spaces are filled for each class the class will be declared FULL and no other applicants may enter that class. This is not school but technical skilled training and we must be mindful of accidents within the workshops so very large training classes will not be entertained.
9
It is a condition of entry that you are physically fit to carry out the particular trade so it is best to have a medical before you attend the college to prove you are physically fit. Students who wish to do the Electrical course must prove they are not color blind and must sit a color blindness test.
1
No fees may be paid into the college in advance. If money is paid in advance without a college stamped Westpac Bank Deposit Slip your money will be refunded LESS a K30 HANDLING FEE – so please be warned. Do not pay money into our bank to try seeking entry into the college via the backdoor.
1
Do not seek a space in the college if you cannot afford the fees since we do not want students to withdraw later. This is a loss of training space to the community and a loss of revenue to the college and will affect our programme and budget. Penalties will exist for people who break these rules so think carefully about the programme you are undertaking and whether you have the whole funds to complete the course.

POLICY GUIDELINES ON FINANCE SUPPORT

Each person who wins a space in the college may pay in full for the course fees. If you pay cash into the college then obtain a receipt before you leave the college – If you cannot provide a receipt and cash goes missing the college will not be held responsible and you may have to pay again.

If you cannot afford to pay all the fees in one payment you may pay 75% of the full course fee. For example, if the course fee has a net cost of K5, 130.00 then you must pay K3, 847.50 on the day of enrollment. Failure to pay will mean you will be refused entry into the new term. Each course will have its own costing and more details can be given on our course costing sheet.

Due to many criminal activities all fees are the responsibility of the parent or guardian to pay into the bank. Do not bring cash payments to the college.

Students will be asked to leave if a cheque payment on their behalf is dishonored. If the cheque is to be represented then we will request the dishonor fee so that the college is not out of pocket.

IMPORTANT:

STUDENTS WHO ENTER THE COLLEGE USING FALSE CERTIFICATES AND OTHER DEVIOUS
MEANS WILL BE REFERRED TO THE POLICE FOR PROSECUTION.
