In 2011 there has been a significant refocus on the importance of Technical and Vocational Education at Government, Business, Community and Donor levels.
The Vision 2050 formally recognizes the importance of developing a skilled workforce to support the exciting growth period that Papua New Guinea is blessed with.
Technical Colleges and Port Moresby Technical College in particular are set to play a key role in achieving the major targets of Vision 2050 through the delivery of world class trade training that is demand driven and meets the current and emerging needs of Government, Business and the Community.
Quality is the critical factor in Port Moresby Technical College achieving the standards of delivery and assessment demanded by clients – the students, parents, business owners and government agencies. This Strategic Plan 2011-2015 is based on the recommendations of the rigorous AusAID TVET Needs Analysis undertaken in late 2010 and early 2011.
Significant investment of time and money are required in Human Resources, Infrastructure, Curriculum, Training Equipment, Governance, Leadership and Financial Management, Policies and Procedures to ensure effective and efficient delivery of training that meets client needs. The Strategic Plan 2011-2015 addresses each of these key areas.

In the Global Economy it is important to develop international partnerships and ‘communities of practice’. The Strategic Plan 2011-2015 includes goals and objectives to develop and maintain strong partnerships with reputable international training providers.
